There are people that say that a gluten free diet is not healthy and can't understand why anyone would go on this lifestyle diet if they do not have to.
First of all it is not an unhealthy lifestyle unless you make it unhealthy. Gluten free alternatives can sometimes be a bit more caloric or have a higher content of fats but if you eat a healthy diet of fruit, vegetables, lean organic meat and just treat yourself to cake, bread and cookies you will have a very healthy lifestyle.
If you have a child or a mate that has a wheat allergy or Celiac Disease you should also go gluten free in the home. It is almost impossible to tell a child (or a mate) that the wheat products are just for you and they can't have them. When your eating out it is another story. It is all right to have a treat of whole grain occasionally. Modern day people eat entirely too much processed food like cookies, cakes, bread, pasta, and cereals.
