Healthy Food
Where to go to find
healthy food and how to use it to help you lose weight and/or
stay healthy!
If you're one of the many people who still thinks health food
consists of dusty cereals, stale-tasting breads and murky,
unappetizing juices -- all sold in stores with a strong
medicinal smell -- maybe it's time to take another look. No
longer just for tree-huggers who wear funny looking sandals,
today's health food appeals to an increasingly health-conscious
public. Publix, Kroger, Piggly Wiggly, Wal-Mart and Bi Lo (just
to mention a few) all have a section where you can buy
"Healthy Food". But Even better, these foods are being
mixed with other foods and the educated consumer recognizes and
buys. If you buy it they will sell it. More and more Health Food
stores are becoming grocery stores with healthy food.
Foods you can buy from your local grocery store that is
considered to be healthier for you and still be easy on the
pocket book If you can not find these foods just ask a
store clerk to help you!

the food they eat can have on their health and longevity.
"Health food" encompasses a wide range of foods,
drinks and supplements. These products are often designed to
prevent illness and, in some cases, may even cure it.
How Can Health Food Help Me Get In Shape
The statement "You are what you eat" has never been so
true. Today People have a problem with the information that they
get on what is healthy. Most people try to choose the lesser of
all the evils. If you eat processed food, chemically treated or
hormone infused food you will not drop dead there on the
spot. But, if you eat this all the time you will not be healthy.
If you educate yourself to what is healthy you will lose
weight easier, you will not be as sickly, and it will
help as much as exercise in the type of life style you are able
to live. If you eat a better quality food you will have more
energy, and have a clearer mind. You cannot exercise if you do
not have the energy.
Many people say they can not afford the healthy alternatives.
Brown rice, whole wheat bread, and whole wheat flour are often
the same price. The cereals are all about the same price

organic cane juice and/or honey. Give up 30 minutes of TV and spend some extra time
reading labels.
Read The Label
Understanding how to read a list of ingredients is an
important consideration for health food consumers. A jar of jam
should read fruit and sugar. There is no need for artificial
color or flavor, preservatives, and names that you can not
pronounce. At a time when so many people suffer from allergies
and have sensitivities to additives and certain types of foods.
Avoid artificial flavors, preservatives, refined sweeteners and
additives known to be harmful (artificial sweeteners are on the
top of the list).
"Health food," "healthy food",
"Organic" and "natural food" are used to
describe health food. In both healthy foods and natural
foods, you would typically find a higher proportion of raw
foods, with minimal or no processing.
Don't Let Appetite Triggers
Shoot Down Your Diet
Perhaps you associate eating with events like watching
television, talking with friends, or reading. Over time,
responding to such frequent cues can lead to weight gain. The
following behavior changes can help to eliminate eating cues
that can sabotage your diet.
- Eat your meals in only one
room of the house.
- Eat each meal at the same time
each day.
- Don't do anything else while you're eating such as
working or watching TV. This is a traditional time to catch
up with your family… or if you live alone put on some
soothing music and relax while you eat.
- When you go to parties, focus
your attention on the guests, entertainment,
surroundings-anything but food and beverages.
- Turn down the volume or switch channels during food
commercials on television to help you tune out eating cues.
- When
you fell that hunger pain and you know you just ate....try a
glass of water before you get the food - often you just need
to be re- hydrated!!!
