Dog Food
Lamb or beef recipe
1lb ground or cubed lamb or beef
1-2 cups brown rice
2 stalks Broccoli
2 medium yams
3 medium carrots
Directions:
Brown meat in a frying pan lightly greased with oil. Put into a pot of water (enough to cover contents). Add cubed yams, cut broccoli, sliced carrots and brown rice. If using cubed meat cut into very small pieces. Bring all to a boil and lower to a simmer. Cook for about an hour or until all is soft and tender. Do not add spices. Let cool and mash up slightly - For small dogs mash up well. After all is cool you can add vitamins if you like. This is enough for several meals for a small to medium dog. If your dog can not eat this much in a 3 day period put into ice tray and freeze and take a couple of cubs as needed and thaw as needed.
Yams and real meat are great for dogs. Yogurt is also great for the digestive system but only give in small amounts ( a couple of spoonfuls a couple of times a week).
Do not feed your dog bones , especially cooked bones. Fragments can become lodged in the digestive tract. Canines in the wild who eat bones have the benefit of consuming hair and hide too, which have been found to ‘pad' the bone fragments and aid in their passing. Other foods to avoid that are dangerous for dogs are chocolate, avocados, mushrooms, macadamia nuts, grapes, raisins, onions, and garlic.
