Make Your Own Ring Bearer Pillow

Making your own wedding accessories can be a great way to save some money on your wedding. Handmade and crafted items can put your own personal touch to your wedding. when it comes to the pillow though, keep in mind that the ring bearer pillow will usually be carried by a little boy who may refuse to hold something covered in lace and pastel colors. Because of this you may want to keep your ring bearer pillow simple and tasteful.

The first thing that you need to decide is what kind of style pillow you want and what fabric you will make it out of. A recommended fabric would be a white or off-white silk. Of course a brocade of knitted pattern is nice also ( of course still in in white or off-white). Then decide what kind of decorations, if any on you want on the ring bearer pillow. You may want lace or other materials to decorate part of the pillow with. Here are directions for a simple ring bearer pillow that is quick and easy to make.

Materials Needed:
2 pieces of fabric, approximately 8-10 inches square
small square pillow form
pins
thread to match the fabric of the pillow
needles to sew the fabric or a sewing machine
satin ribbon approximately 1 -2 yards
A covered button or a grouping of seeshels as an anchor for the ribbon that you tie the rings to.

Instructions:

1. Take the two pieces of fabric and pin the right sides together. The outside of the fabric (the side you want showing) should be facing each other. If you are adding ribbon or lace to the pillow you may want to stich into this seem. You may also want to insert a lace or rope around the edges this also would go into the seem.

2. Stitch together the fabric pieces and remove the pins. When finished with all of the side, turn the fabric right side out. Be sure to trim and push the corners of the side out also.

3. Insert the pillow form into the fabric.

4. Close all of the openings around the pillow by hand or use a sewing machine if you have one. You now have a plain ring bearer pillow.

5. Use satin ribbon that matches the fabric to tie a bow around the ring bearer pillow or pintch in the middle and add anchor as stated above. To add a button or some other object stich both sides of the pillow together (in the middle) by hand and then add button, shells, pearls or whatever(refer to above picture).
